Even though traveling season is coming to an end. I still thought this article would still be beneficial to share. So, today I'll be sharing 5 tips that will make flying with a toddler more bearable.
So, my family just got back from Las Vegas. And this was my daughter first time ever on a plane. Let me tell you I was absolutely terrified to take my daughter on a plane. Because, I heard so many horror stories about toddlers on airplanes. And I didn't want to be that annoying mom with a baby. I know I'm not the only one, Right? I've heard a lot of mother hate to fly with there children. Why is that?
While traveling with my toddler I came up with these amazing tips. And these tips along with prayer helps us out tremendously. These tips, will make any family vacation a breeze. So pack up those suitcases, because it's time to hit the road! The only downside when traveling with little ones is not being prepared. Preparation is the key! Also, these tips could also be modified and used on family road trips as well.
Whether you're preparing for a family getaway, or just wanna jot down some helpful notes for the future, because why not.
Snack's & Candy
Bringing all their favorite snacks will definitely help the time go by faster. Bring a variety of different snacks. But before packing up the treat bag make sure all the snacks are TSA approved.
Optional: Candy
(Sugar-Free)
I know a lot of parents tries to stay away from candy! But, this could also be helpful for when your child has a meltdown. Also, candy could be helpful with preparing for take off, and landing. The take off and landing can cause pain to the ears, and swallowing is the best way to deal with it. Also make sure to hide the goodies until the perfect opportunity arises.
Checklist
For me the most important thing I do before every trip is create a checklist. Gives me the opportunity to write down everything needed for the flight and trip. This may sound "old school" but it is very effective.
Jotting down the necessity like snacks, toys, extra clothes, etc.. Because children are unpredictable. You'll never know what to expect. That's why its important to be prepared at all times, so theres no surprises.
Comfortability
My daughter has a stuffed bear that she absolutely adores. It was giving to her by her grandfather. They have an everlasting bond, so she can't go anywhere long term without it. So bear goes everywhere we go. It's amazing to see the level of trust and comfort it brings her. So if your child is anything like mine bringing bear is a must!
This step is the most forgotten in my eyes. This will giving your child that sense of security while experiencing something new. As parents we can sense when our child is uncomfortable. So since we don't want them to become completely terrified from flying. Bringing there favorite blanket or stuff animal, or action figure could prevent that.
Entertainment
When it comes to entertaining your child it shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg. So that's why I hit up the dollar store to grab some toys, puzzles, maybe even some books, pretty much anything that will draw my daughters attention.
But with that being said, I wouldn't get anything that makes to much noise or anything that makes too much noise or anything that could be used as a weapon. Just getting something that keeps them entertained for at least five minutes is a plus.
Non-Stop Flights
If possible, book a non-stop flight. But if you can't get a direct flight pick the flight with the shortest traveling time. This will make your life way easier.
Also, its better to get to the airport earlier then expected. This gives yourself plenty of time to get through security, take potty breaks, get something to eat, and explore with your little ones.
While waiting at the gate find an area thats somewhat open, allow your child to run wild. Let them unleash all their energy before boarding. So when the flight arrives they can sleep and relax, which means "peace and quite".
{Extra Tip}
This would be helpful if your traveling with multiple kids. Color Coordinating Outfits, I know this might sound corny to your older children, but you can never be too safe! Especially when you're in a crowded airport.
These tips won't make flying with children perfect. But, they'll help make it a lot easier. Whether your a first-time parent, or an old dog. Traveling with a child is always going to be a difficult task. But don't get discouraged. Children are unpredictable and hardly ever rans out of energy.
Therefore, it's important to be prepared with the right tools so you can manage your little ones effectively.

Love your tips. I don’t have small children anymore but I Aisha some mothers I met on planes would have taken your advice for the sake of the rest of the plane
Great tips! We'll be flying with the grandbabies this fall (ages 2 and 6 months) , and I want to be prepared. I used to dress my kids alike when we traveled years ago. It does make it much easier to keep an eye on them.
I find having a checklist before travelling an absolute must too. It saves me from unnecessary purchases during my trips. Things always seem to cost more during trips somehow. :)
